Exclusive: India needs to plug loopholes in criminal justice system, says Ujjwal Nikam

In an exclusive interview with Rakesh Tripathi, National Bureau Chief of Etv Bharat, Public Prosecutor, Ujjwal Nikam spoke extensively on police encounters and loopholes in the Indian Judicial System. He said that the Judiciary System needs self-introspection in order to plug its loopholes. Talking about the recent Kanpur police encounter, in which wanted criminal Vikas Dubey was gunned down, Nikam pointed that such encounters do not send good message among people and they start questioning the Judicial System. He further said that while laws are in place, there should be no laxity at the implementation level. He further said that zero-tolerance against hardcore criminals should be the norm and the process of law should not be slow and swift punishment for offenders is necessary.
