Road rage: Youth, who questioned auto driver for hitting his car, bashed up

Ernakulam (Kerala): A youth was brutally beaten up on the road in Aluva of Ernakulam by an auto driver and his associates for questioning the latter after he hit his car. The thrashing took place in the middle of the city in full public glare and the victims have been identified as Elukkara Nasif (20) and his friend Bilal.

The thrashing happened on the road parallel to the national highway near the Aluva Marthandavarma bridge. Some of the locals tried to intervene and catch the miscreants, but in vain. The youth, who was beaten up, fell on the road, and in the video, it can be seen he was being kicked and attacked with stones and sticks. 

The youth can be seen running away from the incident spot while the footage shows that one of the miscreants 'lungi' falls off during the attack and yet he continues to beat the youth. According to police, youths were going to Angamali by car through the parallel road of the national highway on the Aluva bypass around 6.30 pm on Saturday when the incident took place.

According to the youth, the auto came in the wrong direction in violation of the traffic rules and hit the car and it did not stop. Naseef and his friend Bilal followed the auto and questioned the driver. With this, the auto driver and his accomplices attacked them. Naseef said that they were beaten up without any provocation. Both are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Aluva. Youths lodged a complaint with the police stating that the assailants broke the glass of the car and stole the wallet.

The Aluva police registered a case based on their complaint. The police stated that the accused had been identified and strict action would be taken against them. Meanwhile, the accused absconded soon after the footage surfaced on social media.
