Demanding justice for Unnao rape victim, members of Indian Youth Congress staged a protest near Parliament House raising slogans against the BJP- led Central and state government. Delhi police imposed Section 144 of CrPC in the area to stop the protesters who were marching towards the Parliament House.

New Delhi: Indian Youth Congress members staged a protest near Parliament House, on Monday, demanding justice for the Unnao rape victim and expressing solidarity to her family.

The protestors raised slogans against the BJP government ruling in Centre and Uttar Pradesh, accusing them of not giving justice to the Unnao rape victim. They tried to march towards the Parliament House but were stopped by the Delhi police, imposing Section 144 of CrPC in the area.

While speaking to media, IYC President Srinivas BV said, "The rate of crime against women is continuously rising in our country. We will continue to raise questions over this government until the law and order are back on place."

A woman protestor said, "We are demanding for the time-bound justice which needs to be given in such crucial cases. Why do the victims always have to wait for justice?"

The 23-year-old rape victim was burnt alive by five men, and two of them allegedly raped her. She succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi on Friday night.
