WATCH: Spitting cobra spotted in Uttarakhand

Ramnagar: In a rarity, a spitting cobra was spotted in Ramnagar. When the monocled cobra senses danger, it spits venom as a defensive mechanism. The venomous reptile was found inside a house in Shanti Kunj street in the Pirumadara area. A team of Save the Snake and Wildlife Welfare Society rescued the reptile and released it into the forest. The monocled cobra or Indian spitting cobra is a venomous cobra species widespread across South and Southeast Asia and listed as Least Concern on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List.
