Chaash or buttermilk is popular as one of the most common summer drinks. Other than as a coolant this curd based drink has a number of health benefits. Buttermilk, or chaash as we call it, increases appetite and soothes your system. It can also induce sleep! Almost every Indian household will have this drink daily for their consumption during summers. As you travel length and breadth of the country you will come across different region-based names and recipes for this drink. Some are bit sweet and salty, some will tastes spicier and some are mildly sour in taste. The spices used in preparing chaash also aid digestion after a heavy meal. Buttermilk is a good source of several nutrients, including protein, calcium, and riboflavin.
