Haridwar: As yoga teacher, Ramdev continues to stoke controversy with his comments about allopathic medicines and Covid, his recent attitude took a U-turn and said he would get the covid vaccine soon. He was also seen wearing a face mask for the first time during any public event on Thursday. He had sparked an uproar after purportedly calling allopathy a "stupid science".

This has led the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to demand that the Union Health Ministry take action against him, but Patanjali denied the allegations against him, saying that he was only reading a "forwarded WhatsApp message". However, a day after the statement, he was forced to withdraw his statement after the Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan wrote a letter to him.

However, on Thursday, while speaking to media persons, he took a U-turn and said he would get the vaccine very soon. "A doctor is like a god for us. Every doctor is not involved in the wrongdoings and also my statements were not meant for them who are working tirelessly for us," said Ramdev.

Coronil, the so-called immunity booster kit manufactured by yoga guru Ramdev's Patanjali group in India, has landed in a controversy in Nepal after the Himalayan nations Department of Ayurveda and Alternative Medicine imposed a ban on its distribution. The Health Ministry of Nepal, however, has remained silent over the ongoing controversy regarding the distribution of Coronil kits, which have also landed in controversy in India and Bhutan.

The controversy erupted in Nepal after the Patanjali Yoghpeeth on last Thursday handed over Coronil kits, sanitisers, masks and other immunity booster medicines worth crores of rupees to outgoing Health Minister, Hrydesh Tripathi. The day after he received the support from local officials of the Patanjali Yogpeeth Nepal, Tripathi was removed as the Health Minister.
