Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai who accused Congress of being corrupt asserted that his saffron party would be romping back to power for a second consecutive term bucking the trend that no parties had majority to form the government. He harped that he would win at a record margin and so will be his party. A confident Bommai will get a fourth consecutive term as a legislator, if he wins.

"Congress has (a) track record about corruption... A lot of people are out on bail. There are corruption charges and more than 60 cases have been filed with Lokayukta against former CM and others. What are they talking about...?" Bommai snapped when he was asked to respond to the allegations of Corruption levelled by the Congress party.

Congress leader DK Shivakumar accused the BJP of being corrupt when he cast his vote earlier in the day. He said the young voters have a great opportunity and that they will vote for a change. According to Shivakumar, they are aware of the price rise and corruption.

Bommai who was speaking to reporters after he cast his vote at Shiggaon, in Haveri district, said he had done his duty towards democracy. He also hailed it as a privilege to vote in his home constituency who is looking at a second term as CM if the BJP mops up the magic number 113 in the 224 member House.

On being retained as CM in case of a BJP victory, Bommai said that question would be addressed by the legislature party and the BJP Parliamentary Board after the elections. "I will be able to answer that question only after (May) 13th (day of counting of votes)," he said.

"I've voted and done my duty towards democracy. It's a privilege to vote in my constituency. I will win by a record margin. People of Karnataka will vote for positive development and BJP will get a comfortable majority. I urge people to cast their vote," Bommai said.

"I am very happy with the way our party conducted the campaign and the way people have reacted. I appeal to people to come and vote for the development of Karnataka." Before he cast his vote at at a polling station setup at a government school, the CM offered prayers at Gayatri Temple in the district.
