Patna: Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav, both sons of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav today finally took the Covid-19 vaccine in a private hospital in Patna. Interestingly, a political debate has started in the state capital after both brothers took the shots of the Russian vaccine Sputnik rather than believing the indigenous Covaxin.

Both brothers took the vaccine at Patna's Jai Prabha Medanta Hospital after much controversy on the issue. A few days back Tejashwi had stated that he will only take the vaccine once 70 per cent of the people will be vaccinated.

Soon after the vaccination, Lalu's eldest son Tej Pratap shared a few photographs on his Twitter. "I got the Covid vaccine today along with my brother Tejashwi Yadav in Medanta hospital," Tej Pratap wrote on his Twitter handle. Earlier senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member Sushil Kumar Modi had slammed Lalu's family for not taking the Covid jab.

Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) spokesperson Vijay Yadav said, "It is very unfortunate that so far the leader of the opposition has not taken the vaccine. I am wondering how come Tejashwi did not trust the vaccine made by our Indian scientists. It proves that he does not have any faith in the Indian vaccine and Indian scientists."

JDU spokesperson Abhishek Jha too slammed RJD leaders claiming that it is into the habit of Tejashwi Yadav not to do that work unless pressure mounted on him.

"The RJD leaders carried out a series of negative campaigns on the issue of vaccination. They even misguided innocent people. Tejashwi should have taken the covid jab long back. Anyways, finally, he has taken the vaccine. Tejashwi keeps on shouting that there was no vaccine in Bihar then how come he got the vaccine? I will pray from almighty god that his entire family remains safe and sound in this pandemic. I will also request not to do any more politics on the issue of vaccination," Jha stressed.

Sources in the RJD revealed that both Lalu and Rabri have already taken the covid vaccine two months back in Delhi itself. The RJD leader mocked Sushil Modi for his false information.

"BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi who is very quick in releasing documents and papers related to Lalu's family must be aware that both Lalu Ji and Rabri Ji have taken the vaccine two months back. Even Misa Bharti Ji has taken the vaccine. Most important all three have taken Covaxin. I am wondering how come, junior Modi is not aware of it. It's childish behaviour from Sushil Modi's side to spread false information about our leader without cross-checking the facts. Once again I want to emphasize what happened with his special skill of furnishing documents against the Lalu family. He should have got the documents related to vaccination of Laluji and Rabri Ji long back," a source close to the Lalu family told ETV Bharat on the condition of anonymity.

A few days back, Sushil Modi had shared a post on his official Twitter handle alleging the Lalu family for spreading mistrust among the common people regarding vaccination. "No picture has been released yet of the leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav and his parents Rabri Devi and Lalu Prasad taking the vaccine. Has the Lalu family maintained a distance from vaccines to derail the vaccination drive and create mistrust towards vaccines?" Modi tweeted last week.

Much recently Sushil Modi had stated on his Facebook that the best use of the court granting him bail is to take the Covid vaccine along with Rabri Devi in Patna so that the misunderstanding among the poor people get over and more vaccination can take place. RJD spokesperson Ejaz Ahmad on the other hand said that if the government of India has authorised Sputnik too as covid jab why the unnecessary debate is going on.

"Sputnik is one of three vaccines authorised by the government of India so why is there debate going on? There is no question of indigenous and foreign vaccines, what matters is the vaccination. BJP and JDU leaders have no work at present and the entire Bihar has seen how badly Nitish Kumar government has handled the pandemic situation in Bihar," Ahmad stressed.
