Exclusive: India have advantage in Olympic Qualifiers, says Indian skipper Rani Rampal

When Rampal was asked about the forthcoming Olympic qualifiers, the dynamic skipper said that playing in home conditions would give India an advantage over the visitors.

Hyderabad; Indian women Hockey team skipper Rani Rampal on Wednesday in an exclusive interview to ETV Bharat said that her team's recent tour of England, where they played five matches against Great Britain, would prove beneficial for the team ahead of Olympic qualifiers.

Rani Rampal also insisted that Team India were able to apply their plan perfectly against Great Britain and she is looking forward to doing the same against the United States, whom they will face in the Olympic qualifiers on November 1 and 2 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar.

The Indian skipper also heaped praises on her team for their dominant performance against Great Britain. Rampal also said that the Olympic Qualifier was in their mind during their stay in Britain.

Talking about their preparations for the Oly Qualifiers, Rani Rampal said that they need to work on their finish and need to score more in the beginning.

Rampal also accepted that they started their preparing for Oly Qualifier after Asian Games. She also said that the team is now more fit and it will help them in the long run.

Asked if she feels burdened while leading the team. The talismanic player said, "No, I don't feel pressurised. But the more you play for your country, the more responsibilities come in your way."

Rampla also said that Team India is quite balanced as they are experienced as well as young players in the line. And the youngsters are learning from their senior pros.

Rani Rampal also said that nowadays fans are taking more interests in Hockey. She also said that the Government of India is helping players to get exposure.
