And during the process, he figures out your bottomline and tries to profit from it. So now it's muddying the waters and hopes to weaken your confidences, which is the second point - launching psychological warfare."

The United States is trying to mount pressure and fish in troubled waters by escalating trade frictions with other countries, said an expert from Tsinghua University on Thursday.
Zhu Min, chairman of National Institute of Financial Research of Tsinghua University, made the remarks when commenting on the recent tariffs imposed by the U.S. in imported Chinese goods.
"The first point is the work style of the Trump administration. He always launches surprise attacks, blatantly makes unreasonable demands and stirs things up. And during the process, he figures out your bottomline and tries to profit from it. So now it's muddying the waters and hopes to weaken your confidences, which is the second point - launching psychological warfare," said Zhu.
Zhu said the important experience that the U.S. learned from its Cold War with the Soviet Union is to place great value on the psychological warfare, which is a key point in Henry Kissinger's research in early years.
He added that judging from the list of 13 Chinese entities sanctioned by the U.S., he couldn't see a clue.
"The U.S. is using the entire state apparatus to go against Chinese companies, which is unconventional and a violation of justice. Martin Wolf, leading commentator at the Financial Times, says in his article that 'the United States has become a rogue superpower, hostile, among many other things.' I think the concept fits very well. It shows the U.S.moves blatantly violate the international rules and are totally unjustifiable," said Zhu.
"The Chinese enterprises should be confident and stand out with confidence to make things clear. At the same time, I think our government should give appropriate support, which, I think, is also very important," said Zhu.
In the latest flare-up of trade tensions between the world's two largest economies, Washington increased additional tariffs on 200 billion U.S. dollars' worth of imported Chinese goods from 10 percent to 25 percent as of May 10, and has threatened to raise tariffs on more Chinese imports, aggravating the year-long trade friction despite 11 rounds of bilateral trade talks.
In response, China announced that it will raise the rate of additional tariffs imposed on some of the imported U.S. products from June 1.
