Video: Tumkur girl dies as fire breaks out while filling can of petrol at bunk

Tumkur : While filling a can of petrol at a petrol pump, a sudden fire broke out killing the daughter of a woman who suffered critical burns and was rushed to a hospital. Ratnamma (46), a resident of Javanahalli in Shira taluk, was seriously injured and her daughter Bhavya (18) died due to critical burns.

According to the CCTV footage, the incident took place at the Badavanahalli village petrol pump in Madhugiri taluk at 4.15 pm on Sunday. A can was kept in the two-wheeler while the petrol was being filled at the bunk when the fire started accidentally. Then Bhavya's body caught fire and the flames spread to her mother too.

Local people tried to rescue Bhavya and her mother when they were struggling for life after the fire. They were immediately taken to Shira Hospital for treatment. Later they were admitted to Victoria Hospital in Bangalore for further treatment. But Bhavya died during the treatment and the injured mother Ratnamma is still undergoing treatment.

A case has been registered at Badavanahalli police station. The scene of the fire was captured on the CCTV camera in the bunk.
