Rajasthan: After seven hours, child extracted from borewell in Dausa district

After seven hours of rescue operations, a one-year-old girl, who had fallen inside a borewell in Rajasthan's Dausa district, has been extracted from the pit.

Dausa: After seven hours of rescue operation, a one-year-old child in Rajasthan on Thursday was extracted from a borewell she had slipped into while playing earlier in the day. Ankita Gurjar, daughter of village resident Devnarayan Gurjar, was rescued after the daylong operation by district administration, police officials as well as SDRF (State Disaster Response Force).

Visuals from the spot displayed security officials carrying her to safety. The child has been admitted to a local hospital for a primary health inspection. CCTV camera footage displayed a rope being sent down to help her emerge safely. The one-year-old is known to have been stuck at a depth of about 60 feet. After the mishap, JCB as well as other machinery were pressed into use.

"I am very happy that the girl Ankita, who fell in the borewell in Bandikui, has been rescued safely. For this work, I express my gratitude to the NDRF, SDRF, the administration team and all the people who helped in the rescue work" Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tweeted out. The CM had earlier spoken to Dausa District Collector Qamar Chaudhary about the operation.
