Though it sounds strange, the unique village of Jamai Pada in Jharkhand's Seraikela is majorly inhabited by sons-in-law. Men who permanently settle down with the families of their wives, are held in high esteem here. According to locals, when the area was hit by severe famine in 1967, someone said that the village would be blessed with rains if a son-in-law is given a piece of land and made to rehabilitate here. When the words came true, villagers decided that men would have to move here if they married their daughters.
