While you must be looking in your kitchen cabinets for ingredients for home remedies, one of the best things available and in use these days is Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV). ACV is known to have several head-to-toe benefits, as per what is known till date. However, research is still going on to find out more evidence about how ACV benefits health. To learn more about ACV, we talked to Dr T. Sailaja, B.A.M.S MD (Ayurveda), Ayurcare, Bangalore and here is what she explains.

How Is Apple Cider Vinegar Produced?

Our expert explains that the process of producing ACV starts with the fermentation of apple juice. Apples are crushed, squeezed and juice is extracted for fermenting. The bacteria then convert this alcoholic liquid into an acetic acid solution. Therefore, by the second fermentation process, apple cider vinegar is formed.

ACV is available in two forms, one is unfiltered and unrefined, with a cloudy appearance and is called ‘mother’. It consists of all the proteins and good bacteria. Another one is refined, which is a clear solution. The one with the mother is recommended for use. Apart from this, people who are unable to take ACV in the form of liquid due to its pungent taste and smell, tablet form is also available as an alternative. The pills may have added ingredients like turmeric and pepper.
