TMC leader shot dead in West Bengal

Dharmendra Singh, a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader was shot dead by unidentified persons near Shalimar Railway Station of West Bengal's Howrah on Tuesday. The attack is suspected to be a result of a past rivalry.

Howrah: A Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Dharmendra Singh was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne miscreants near Shalimar Railway Station of West Bengal's Howrah on Tuesday evening.

According to reports, the incident occurred at Gate number 3 of Shalimar railway station when some bike-borne miscreants came on the bike, fired at Dharmendra, and left the spot.

Immediately, Dharmendra rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him brought dead.

On being informed about the incident, police have reached the crime spot launched an investigation in the matter.

After the incident, a mob ransacked several nearby stores and set fire to vehicles. The incident has led to panic in the area.

Dharmendra had won municipality election and was working president of Trinamool Congress of ward no. 39 under Howrah Municipal Corporation.

The attack is suspected to be a result of a past rivalry. Further investigation is underway.
