Sachin Pilot keeps cards close to his chest, leaves decisions to Congress high command

Bengaluru: Congress leader Sachin Pilot has said that the Congress high command will decide who will be the Chief Minister, Congress state president and cabinet ministers in Rajasthan. The party high command will also factor in why no government in Rajasthan secured a second term in the last 25 years. Sachin Pilot was in Bengaluru on a tour of Karnataka.

Due to the ill-health of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan, speculations of cabinet expansion or reorganization ended. However, there are strong speculations of promoting Sachin Pilot as the Congress state president along with a cabinet expansion. On the question of Rajasthan cabinet expansion and his future in the party, Sachin Pilot said that the Congress high command will decide on the appointments including the Chief Minister.

Sachin Pilot also said that the Chief Minister's discussion regarding the cabinet expansion with the AICC has been completed. He added that veteran Congress leader Ajay Maken, Congress incharge of Rajasthan, had held several rounds of discussions with the MLAs and leaders of Rajasthan.

All of us are also in touch with Ajay Maken. Sachin Pilot also said that a committee was formed last year, out of which Ahmed Patel has passed away. But the other two members are in touch with us. The important thing is that Congress should do a better job in Rajasthan.

Sachin Pilot has reiterated that for the last 25 years, no government earned a second term. Rajasthan is a strong state for Congress and it is very important for the party to win every election in the state. He has also apprised party high command about the same. It is very important that our government should work in such a way that every party worker feels that he is a part of it.

Sachin Pilot said that party workers should be given participation in the government. I think that in this way we can come back to power again. On being made the Chief Minister of Rajasthan or being made in-charge of Gujarat, Pilot said that he doesn't want to give an answer to such speculations. Sachin Pilot said that it has been more than one year since the committee was formed. The government and the party will have to work together to return to the helm in 2023.

He added that his priority is to strengthen the leadership, government and organisation of the party which remains my priority. I was the president of the Rajasthan Congress for seven years, we performed well in the Rajasthan by-elections, Lok Sabha elections, municipal and panchayat elections. He added that in the coming days there is a need to strengthen the party not only in Rajasthan but in the whole country so that we can win the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
