Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A viral social media video which shows former Madhya Pradesh Chief Ministers Digvijaya Singh and Kamal Nath as a snake and snake charmer respectively, has triggered a war of words between the Congress and the BJP.

The video clip, which has gone viral on social media, shows a basket labelled Congress, from which a snake with Digvijaya Singh's face emerges. While Kamal Nath is a snake charmer, Congress leader Jitu Patwari is his helper in the video.

The BJP and Congress have blamed each other for the viral video

The Congress, meanwhile, has blamed the BJP for putting out the video, and has hit out at its "petty mentality".

"The BJP wants to win the by-election by adopting such petty mentality. The BJP is beginning to introduce a deranged mindset, which is indicating towards their possible loss," Congress spokesperson KK Mishra said.

"Making such a video viral makes it clear that in the coming by-elections, the public will conduct the funeral of the BJP," he added.

The BJP, on the other hand, has blamed the Congress itself for putting out the video, adding that it showed the pain of one of its workers.

"Looking at the video, it is clear that it was made by a poor Congress worker. Today, another Congress MLA joining BJP ranks has aggrieved party workers again," BJP spokesperson Jama Khan said.

Earlier yesterday, Congress MLA Rahul Lodhi from Damoh resigned from his Assembly membership and joined the BJP.

Earlier this year, 22 Congress MLAs had resigned from their Assembly membership and joined the BJP under the leadership of Jyotiraditya Scindia, which led to the collapse of the then Kamal Nath-led Congress government.

Three more Congress MLAs later resigned from the Assembly. Now, the latest blow to the Congress has come with the resignation of Rahul Lodhi.

The Madhya Pradesh by-elections in 28 Assembly segments are slated for November 3.
