Madhya Pradesh set to replicate Delhi's 'Mohalla Clinics'

On the lines of 'Mohalla Clinic' in Delhi, Chief Minister Kamal Nath led Madhya Pradesh government is planning to set up 'Sanjivani Clinics' in every ward in urban areas. Madhya Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Minister Tulsi Silawat, said the clinics will be launched in several blocks of 20 districts including Bhopal, Indore, and Gwalior from December.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Drawing from the mohalla clinic model of the Delhi government, the Congress dispensation in Madhya Pradesh plans to set up 'Sanjivani Clinics' in every ward in urban areas to provide basic health services to people free of cost.

To start with, 'Sanjivani Clinics' will be set up in four big cities, including state capital Bhopal. Sanjivani Clinics will soon be launched in every ward of four big cities of Madhya Pradesh - Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur, Health Minister Tulsi Silawat said.

Asked about details of the project, Silawat said these health centers would function on the lines of Mohalla Clinics of New Delhi.

Mohalla Clinics in the national capital, an initiative of the AAP government, functions as primary health centers that offer basic health services, including medicines, diagnostics, and consultation, free of cost to people.

We want to make available health facilities to citizens in the vicinity of their homes. Sanjivani Clinics will provide medical facilities to people in their neighborhoods.

"After four cities, such clinics will be set up inwards in every urban body of the state, Silawat said. The minister said several other initiatives are also being taken to improve medical facilities in the state.

We recently appointed about 2,200 doctors under different categories. Direct recruitment of 100 retired specialist doctors is underway.

"Besides, over 1,000 staff nurses have been recruited. The process of appointing more medical staff is going on, he said.

Silawat said while 70 existing hospitals are being upgraded, over 700 sub-health centers are being set up across Madhya Pradesh.
