New Delhi: Over 50 prisoners in Mandoli jail in Delhi created ruckus and one jail inmate has been admitted to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital (GTB) for treatment. After the uproar, 23 injured prisoners were given first aid treatment at the dispensary in the prison.

CCTV visuals inside the jail pointed out that prisoners allegedly injured themselves, as per police sources. Two inmates, 30-year-old Danish and 35-year-old Anish, wanted to come out of their cell on Monday. However, they were not permitted by jail officials. The infuriated duo started creating ruckus, went inside the cell and allegedly injured themselves.

It led to an uproar in the jail and other prisoners also allegedly injured themselves by hitting their heads against the walls as well as bruised themselves with sharp weapons, said police sources. Police sources said Danish started the uproar. He was imprisoned under several cases of attempt to murder and robbery.

Police sources also said there is a sense of animosity between two gangs of prisoners and they had to use mild force to control the violent inmates.
