New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Monday slammed former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti for her remarks on article 35 A, wherein she warned the Centre against any tinkering with it.
On Sunday, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supremo warned Narendra Modi government that any tinkering with the constitutional provision could prove dangerous and it should stay away from it.
Singh reacted saying that the state leaders like Mufti, Farooq Abdullah and many from the Congress indulged in vote bank politics and never worked for the development of the bordering state.
"Mehbooba Mufti incites people of the state in the name of article 35A only for votes. Jammu and Kashmir have all the resources to become a place such as Switzerland but the politicians of the state will never let it happen," Giriraj added.
Jammu and Kasmir has been under President's rule since December last. President Ram Nath Kovind signed the proclamation for the imposition of central rule in the state, which plunged into a political crisis in June after the Mehbooba Mufti-led coalition government was reduced to minority following withdrawal of support by the 25-member BJP in the state.
In recent developments concerning fresh assembly elections in the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders of the BJP are expected to attend the party's Jammu and Kashmir core group meeting on Tuesday.
It is believed that the highest leadership would asses the situation to hold the election in the insurgency-hit state.
