New Delhi: The Delhi borders, which were sealed last week, will open for inter-state movement from Monday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Sunday.
“We are opening Delhi borders from tomorrow,” he said in his address via video-conferencing.
With rising coronavirus cases, Arvind Kejriwal had last week sealed the borders of Delhi, restricting the inter-state movement of non-Delhi residents. However, operation of essential services were allowed.
He also said that hospitals here will be available for people of Delhi only, while Central hospitals will remain open for all.
"Delhi hospitals will be available for people of Delhi only, while Central hospitals will remain open for all. By the end of June, Delhi would need 15,000 beds," said Kejriwal.
He said if people from other cities come to Delhi for specific surgeries, they will be provided treatment at private hospitals.
In another big development, Delhi Government has decided to withdraw the 'special corona fee' levied at 70 per cent of the maximum retail price on all categories of liquor, with effect from June 10, 2020.
The chief minister also said that all restaurants, malls and places of worship will resume activity the national capital from tomorrow, however, hotels and banquet halls will continue to remain closed in Delhi.
The central government has allowed the reopening of shopping malls, hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services along with the places of religious worship to people from June 8, however, these facilities will not be able to resume operations inside containment zones designated by authorities in states.
