Slain IAS officer G Krishnaiah's wife and daughter said that they will take up the matter with PM and President and also approach the court of law in the matter.

Patna/Hyderabad: The family of slain IAS officer G Krishnaiah has raised questions over the Bihar government's move to tweak the rules to prematurely release gangster-turned-politician Anand Mohan, who was convicted for the IAS officer's murder back in 1994. Mohan, who was lodged in Bihar's Saharsa Jail in the murder case, was released from jail early on Thursday.

The then District Collector was lynched to death allegedly by the henchmen of Mohan. The Nitish Kumar led Bihar government paved the way for Mohan's release after it recently amended Rule 481 (i) of the Bihar Prison Manual 2012 on account of which 27 prisoners were notified to be released. The Nitish Kumar led government removed the clause from the rulebook related to the murder of a public servant on duty.

The controversial move by the Bihar government has caused a furore with the opposition alleging that the amendment in the rulebook was specially made in order to secure Mohan's release. The family of the slain IAS officer too has flayed the move by the Bihar government to release the murder convict.

'Will appeal to PM Modi and the President': Uma Devi, wife of slain IAS officer Krishnaiah, has questioned on why a murder convict who was serving life imprisonment through the law, can be released under the legal process. “It is wrong to set him free. Nitish government should reconsider its decision. With this decision of his, IAS, IPS, IFS officers will be demoralised. My husband has been an officer of the Central Government, so we will demand justice from the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Draupadi Murmu. If we have to go to court for this, we will go,” Devi said.

Devi said that the public will protest to send him (Anand Mohan) back to jail. “This order is politically motivated. Anand Mohan must have pressurized the Chief Minister. That's why he took such a decision. Even after protesting so much, he has been released," Uma Devi said.

'Release for the sake of Rajput votes': Slain IAS officer G. Krishnaiah's daughter Padma also requested Nitish Kumar to reconsider the decision to release the murder convict Mohan. She said that if the state government ignores her demand, then she will approach the court against the decision of the state government.

Padma alleged that Nitish Kumar had made the decision to release Anand Mohan to secure the Rajput vite bank in the upcoming elections. “We heard that Anand Mohan is a Rajput and for cast politics, he must have been released to garner votes. There must be a big hand behind it. But I can't confirm it as I don't know the story behind it," Padma said.
