Hyderabad: After a mixed show on day two in the Tokyo 2020, Indian athletes are expected to win medals and push India up on the medal tally on day 3. Indian athletes will contest in seven sports on Sunday.

Here are the athletes and team on whom we should keep an eye on Day 3:

PV Sindhu - Badminton

Rio Olympics silver medallist PV Sindhu will begin her Tokyo Olympics campaign on Sunday against Ksenia Polikarpova of Israel.

Sindhu, who is also the regaining World Championships gold medallist, will look to better her Rio performance this time around. The sixth-seeded Indian shuttler has been placed in Group J along with Cheung Ngan Yi of Hong Kong and Polikarpova. Given the rankings of Cheung and Polikarpova, PV Sindhu is the favourite to top the group and progress to the next round.

Mary Kom - Boxing

The face of Indian boxing Mary Kom will look to improve upon her London Olympics bronze medal-winning performance this time in Tokyo. The six-time World Boxing Championship gold medallist will begin her campaign on Sunday morning against Miguelina Hernandez Garcia of the Dominican Republic.

This Olympics gives the 38-year-old flyweight category Indian boxer the last chance to win a gold medal, the only medal which is missing from her distinguished career.

Manu Bhaker, Yashaswini Singh Deswal - Shooting

Indian shooters have made a disappointing start to their Tokyo Olympics campaign, with Saurabh Chaudhary finishing seventh in the 10m Air Pistol medal event, while his peer Abhishek Verma failed to cut into the final.

Earlier in the morning World No. 1 Elavenil Valarivan and World No. 15 Apurvi Chandela could not qualify for the 10m Air Rifle final.

Hence, on Sunday, all eyes will be on Yashaswini Singh Deswal and Manu Bhaker who will contest in the Women's 10m Air Pistol event.

There is a high expectation on both of the shooters, given that Yashaswini is current No. 1 while Manu is No. 2 on world rankings. So the hope is that both will make it to the final round and bring glory to the nation from their maiden outing in the Olympics.

Divyansh Panwar - Shooting

Shooting has been projected as one of the biggest medal winners for India in the Tokyo Olympics. The World No. 8 Indian 10m Air Rifle shooter, Panwar, is one of the brightest medal prospects for India in the Games this time around.

The 18-year-old two-time Junior Worlds gold medallist has been exceptionally successful in 2019. After the failures of Elavenil and Apurvi, the hope is that Panwar will progress to the next round and win a medal to justify shooting's tag as a key medal prospect for India.

Indian men's team - Hockey

After a magnificent 3-2 victory over New Zealand on Saturday, the Indian men's hockey team will face Australia in their second game on Sunday. Eyes will be on them as well.
