New Delhi: Amid an outcry over shortage of medicines, an image of medicines worth lakhs found disposed in a careless manner has surfaced. Also, among these medicines, some of them are within the expiry period.
Thousands of medicines and tablets supplied by the Delhi government were thrown in the open along Mehrauli Gurgaon Road. Disposal of medicines in this manner poses a grave danger.

Now, the question that arises is how drugs which are to be supplied to the hospitals in Delhi have been discarded. Usually, the government gets these medicines directly from the company and distributes it to the hospital dispensaries or Mohalla clinics, so that it is made available to the poor free of cost.
It is for this purpose that a note on the medicines clearly mentions - not for sale, only for supply to Delhi government.

In the footage, it can be clearly seen how the medicines have been dumped wrapped in a black cover. The quantity of medicines dumped at the site is so huge that it caught the attention of people passing by.
The district administration needs to take this issue into cognizance and get the matter investigated and ensure that strict action is taken against whoever is responsible.
