Bengaluru: It was a stormy start to the Karnataka's budget session as the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) created a ruckus in the Vidhana Soudha stating that the ruling JDS-Congress government had 'no right to continue as they had lost the majority'.

Ruckus in Karnataka Vidhana Soudha, Guv speech cut short

The continual sloganeering of the opposition, including a protest, staged by the leaders in the 'well of the house', forced Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Wala to cut short his joint address to the state assembly, at the start of the 10-day budget session.

Even as Wala was reading out his speech in Hindi, BJP members walked towards the Chair and raised slogans against the JDS-Congress coalition government, drowning his voice in the din.

BJP leaders further stated that the Governor should not make the speech as the present government had no majority.

The address by the Governor ended in less than five minutes amid the ruckus, as he read the first and last page of the speech as Speaker's suggestion.

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who also holds the Finance portfolio, will present the State Budget for fiscal 2019-20 in the Assembly on Friday.
