Jaipur: After the controversy within the Punjab Congress that led to Navjot Singh Sidhu being appointed the party's state unit president, Rahul Gandhi had asked Rajasthan Revenue Minister and former party in-charge of Punjab Harish Choudhary to know the mind of the MLAs by maintaining a low profile. It is said that Harish Chaudhary had done an important job of conveying the opinion of the MLAs to the Congress high command regarding Sidhu.

However, even after getting the information from Choudhary, the party appointed Sidhu as the state unit president. But now, there is a fresh controversy within the Punjab unit of the Congress with 40 MLAs demanding a meeting of the legislature party regarding Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

This is why a meeting of the Congress legislature party has been called in Chandigarh at 5 pm Saturday. To end the dissension within the party, the Congress's Rajasthan in-charge Ajay Maken as also Choudhary are being sent as central observers for the meeting. Choudhary has reached Delhi and, along with Maken, will travel to Chandigarh for the 5 pm meeting.

Having been the Congress's secretary in charge of Punjab, Choudhary has good relations with the party MLAs in the state. That's why, this time too he is being sent as an observer for the legislature party meeting.
