We've achieved unprecedented success in fight against terrorism: Pakistan army chief

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing fight between the Taliban and the Panjshir resistance in Afghanistan to form a government, Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that the armed forces have achieved unprecedented success in the fight against terrorism. Addressing a ceremony held in connection with Defence and Martyrs' Day at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday night, Bajwa said, "The Armed Forces, with the support of the nation, have achieved unprecedented successes in the fight against terrorism and in bringing normalcy to the country".

Addressing further, Bajwa spoke on the Kashmir conflict and reaffirmed the Pakistan army's support to the people of Kashmir. "The world must know that without peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue, peace and stability will remain elusive in the region", he added.

Further, the Chief of Pakistan's Armed Forces appreciated the Pakistan militia and said that they are capable to fight all external and internal threats in a befitting manner and that Pakistan has achieved self-sustainability in defence capabilities and made the country's defence impenetrable. The Army Chief added the Armed Forces, with the support of the nation, have achieved unprecedented successes in the fight against terrorism and in bringing normalcy to the country.

With the Taliban takeover, the world is witnessing the massive tragedy unfolding in the war-torn country. Meanwhile, Genera Bajwa termed restoring peace in war-torn Afghanistan mandatory for sustainable development of the South Asian region.

Moreover, as the Taliban struggles to form a new government amid the ongoing clashes in the Panjshir valley, the Pakistan ISI chief Gen. Faiz Hamid visited Kabul last week. General Faiz Hameed arrived in Kabul at the invitation of the Taliban leadership council. Faiz Hameed is one of the highest-ranking foreign officials to travel to Kabul since the Taliban takeover.

The ISI chief was there to help the Taliban form the government. It is said that Pakistan has been supporting the Taliban in its fight against the Panjshir resistance. Pakistan is known to have close connections with the Taliban, the militant group that took control in Afghanistan last month after two decades. Army chief Bajwa reiterated that an inclusive setup in Afghanistan is expected and it will change the fate of the war-hit country.
