Gujarat ATS arrests the accused absconding for last 15 years in 2006 blast case

Ahmedabad (Gujarat): In a major operation, Gujarat ATS arrested two accused from Jammu & Kashmir's Baramulla including notorious criminal absconding for the last 15 years. The Gujarat ATS achieved great success against the terror conspiracy in Gujarat. Two accused, who have been absconding for 15 years, have been arrested from Jammu and Kashmir and both are being brought to Ahmedabad, DGP Ashish Bhatia informed the media here on Thursday.

The one nabbed Bilal Aslam Kashmiri is accused of blast in Ahmedabad while the other Mohammad Hussain alias Hussain Ali Dar is accused of smuggling narcotics in Gujarat.

In the year 2006, a blast took place at Kalupur station in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat at midnight and one person was killed. The case was probed to find out if there was a LET module of militants from Kashmir behind the terror attacks. Nine militants were arrested while Bilal Aslam Kashmiri went absconding for the last 15 years.

A team of Gujarat police personnel led by Dipen Bhadran reached Jammu and Kashmir and with help of Jammu and Kashmir Police both the accused were arrested in a joint police operation. The ATS reached Jammu and Kashmir to nab the accused on the basis of social media and technical analysis, Bhatia said.

It is to be noted that the police investigation has revealed that a terrorist named Bilal Kashmiri was studying in a madrassa in Bharuch in 2006 and after that, he had joined LET. The investigation revealed that all the militants were being taken to PoK for training. A total of nine accused were arrested in the whole incident. Another accused, Bashir Kashmiri, was shot dead in an encounter in Kashmir in 2016 said the DGP.

The other accused arrested by the ATS is Mohammad Hussain alias Hussain Ali Dar. Dar, accused of bringing 108 kg of narcotics to Gujarat, had been absconding since 2006. Dar's name was revealed after interrogation in the case of 10 kgs of narcotics seized in Unwa. Earlier in the same case, a man named Shankar Prasad was arrested for quitting his Air Force job and hiding marijuana in the state using his i-card.

The ATS has reached the airport with the accused and further investigation will be carried on here said the DGP.
