Chamarajnagar: A youth allegedly committed suicide after he was reportedly frustrated by the resignation of BS Yediyurappa from Karnataka's Chief Minister post. Police said the 25-year-old labourer committed suicide on Monday late night, as per reports.
The deceased has been identified by Gundlupet police as Ravi, hailing from Bommalapur village in Chamarajanagar district. According to police, Ravi is a daily wage worker.
According to prima facie investigations, police claimed that Ravi was an ardent follower of Yediyurappa. "After Yediyurappa's announcement, he was deeply hurt and confined himself in a nearby room for a whole day and perhaps he may have committed suicide by hanging during mid-night," police told media. Police also added that other possibilities such as debt-trap are being probed.
Yediyurappa took to Twitter to say that every person has to go through ups and downs in his life and for this none need to lose their precious life. "I humbly appeal to my fans not to take any such extreme steps. It is not right. I am deeply hurt by Ravi's decision to end his life in such a manner. I am humbled and touched by his love, but I cannot endorse such a show of extreme love and affection towards me. It is not right on anyone's part to take such a drastic step," he said in his tweet in Kannada.
