The much-awaited cabinet expansion in Rajasthan is likely to happen soon and the party members are expecting a fair share after the party bagged a good number of seats in urban local body elections.

Jaipur: Rajasthan Congress in-charge Ajay Maken on Sunday said that the state cabinet expansion is likely to happen soon as many of the party workers have given a thumbs up for it.

Maken, who is on a three days Kota tour, took stock of the party's performance in the state and feedback from various office bearers and workers from different areas. The Congress leader will also hold consultations with party leaders following which state cabinet expansion will be carried out soon.

The party had put up a spectacular show by winning 36 posts of Chairmen in urban local bodies out of 50 posts and the MLAs are expecting a decent position in the Ashok Gehlot's cabinet. However, state politics are not yet settled with Ajay Maken discussing various political issues with Gehlot and his bete noire former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot. Sources say that Maken has discussed the expansion of the state cabinet and appointments in the corporations' boards which is pending.

"As a general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC), I listen to all grievances of the workers. After Kota, I will also visit other districts in the state and will also hold a meeting with different departments of the party," Maken said.

The leader denied allegations of internal feud in the Congress camp and said that people workers are determined to work together for the progress of the state. He also said that there should be no politics over the construction of Ram Mandir and the temple should be built soon.

Hitting out at AIMIM, Ajay Maken said, "Owaisi's party wants to come to Rajasthan to pave paths for BJP but we won't allow polarisation of secular votes."
