Neglect threatens historic castle in Mosul

The historic castle of Bashtapia in Mosul is no stranger to threats and demolitions, but the danger this time comes from neglect. The 8th Century castle was attacked several times during invasions by various armies. It was first demolished during the Hulagu Khan campaign in the mid-thirteenth century.
