7. SOUNDBITE (English) Mark Diffley, Independent political analyst and former research director at Ipsos Mori:
"The independence referendum, I think the likelihood of another independence referendum can be seen in two ways. So, there is kind of the legal way in which case there is absolutely no chance, because the way the law stands at the moment the UK government has to agree to an independence referendum taking place in Scotland, and the Prime Minister, newly elected with a big majority and no incentive really to allow a referendum has basically said absolutely no way. So, legally no chance. The First Minister (Nicola Sturgeon) has said that she doesn't want a Catalonia style referendum, she wants to do this properly. So, where do we go? So, the second way of looking at this is the politics of it right. So, the reason why the SNP victory last night is so important, is because it refreshes the mandate. It allows the First Minister to go to the Prime Minister and say look we have 48 out of 59 seats. We are by far the biggest party, we stood on a platform of a second independence referendum and we have won the election in Scotland by a huge margin. Therefore, the will of the people, this will be her argument, is that we need to have another referendum. We need to decide this for ourselves."

"We don't get what we are worth from down there (Westminster) they cheat all the time. And the period of the Brexit period all the Tories have been extremely rude to Scottish people by finger nosing (inaudible) So they will never ever get a vote from me again, the Tories or Labour, never ever in my life, I'll vote SNP all the time."

14. SOUNDBITE (English) Missi Macinnes, Pharmacist:
"I think it (Scottish independence) is frightening, because I think we really, really need to be educated 100 percent before making that decision. I think the situation with Brexit was that the people weren't educated. I think we need to know everything that'll happen, because if we don't we are going to have a situation like Brexit. We need to know what is going to happen with our water bills, with our health care. I think the public really needs to be educated before making that decision."

STORYLINE:
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson campaigned on one theme alone, "Get Brexit done."
His sweeping victory in Thursday's election means that could now happen within weeks.
Even before his Conservative Party had officially crossed the winning line Friday, Johnson said it looked like his party had "a powerful new mandate" to complete Britain's divorce from the European union.
In Scotland the Scottish National Party which campaigned against Brexit and on a mandate for seeking a second Scottish independence referendum won 48 of 56 seats in Scotland.
The UK's Prime Minister has made it clear that he is not in favour of granting Scotland a second vote on its independence after a majority of Scottish voters voted to remain as part of the United Kingdom Union in a referendum held in 2014.
But, Scottish voters also voted overwhelming to remain as part of the European Union.
Political analyst Mark Diffley, who used to work for market research firm Ipsos Mori, says it may not be possible to force an independence referendum legally as this would have to be done with the UK Prime Minister's consent as the law stands, but the SNP's landslide win in Thursday election refreshes their mandate and strengthens the argument for allowing Scotland a second vote.
Tourguide Saptarshi Mitra hopes for independence and says it is now more likely than before that Scottish voters would choose to separate from the UK union.
Retired whisky cooper Ian Parker says Scotland is not treated fairly in the union and he too hopes for Scottish independence in the near future.
Missi Macinnes, a pharmacist who moved to Scotland from the US, says her experience of Brexit has made her cautious of Scottish independence before people know all that is at stake.
