New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NAI) on Saturday carried out search operations in 14 different locations of Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and Delhi in connection with the terror activities of leaders and members of different terrorist organizations including Khalistan Liberation Force, Babbar Khalsa International, International Sikh Youth Federation.
During the searches conducted throughout the day, incriminating materials, including digital devices and documents been seized, the NIA said in a statement. “The case relates to terror activities of chiefs and members of proscribed terrorist organizations, such as Khalistan Liberation Force, Babbar Khalsa International, International Sikh Youth Federation etc," the NIA said.
"Such activities include smuggling of terrorist hardware, such as arms, ammunition explosives, IEDs, etc. across international borders, for use by operatives and members of terror outfits and organized criminal gangs operating in various parts of the country for carrying out terrorist acts like bomb explosions, targeted killings,” it added. This case was registered suo-moto by NIA on August 20, 2022 “Further investigations in the case are in progress,” the NIA said.
It is worth mentioning that the NIA has also been conducting an investigation over the alleged nexus between terrorists and gangsters based in Delhi, Haryana, and NCR. In the last month, NIA conducted search operations at least three times and arrested several gang leaders from different locations in Delhi and NCR.
A senior NIA official said that the searches were aimed at dismantling the illegal arms support infrastructure, apart from the hideouts of the terror-criminal syndicate. “They were taking advantage of the border location of their hideout with Punjab. Further, investigations will continue to dismantle such terror networks as well as their funding and support infrastructure,” the official said. Recently, BSF shot down several drones, used to transport drugs and arms, and ammunition, coming from across the border in Punjab.
