Durg (Chhattisgarh): Three sadhus on Wednesday were brutally thrashed by a mob under suspicion of kidnapping a child here in Charoda Basti. According to the local people, the three sadhus intended to kidnap a child but the sadhus were caught red-handed and thrashed by the mob.
The police who reached the spot, rescued and rushed the sadhus to a hospital. The police have begun a probe by investigating the sadhus. The video of the same has gone viral on social media where the angry mob is brutally thrashing the Sadhus. A policeman is seen trying to save and rescue the sadhus but the mob did not let go of the sadhu's hair. As many as 30 persons were being questioned in connection with the incident that took place on Wednesday in Charoda town under Bhilai police station limits, said a senior official.
Police station in-charge Manish Sharma said, "The incident happened between 11-12 am on Wednesday. But the video of this incident has gone viral a day later. After which the police have come into action." In this case, Durg SP Abhishek Pallav has also expressed displeasure and reprimanded the local investigating officer.
Pallav said, "Three sadhus identified as Rajbir Singh, Aman Singh, and Shyam Singh, residents of Rajasthan's Alwar, were heading to Durg's Charoda area when a group of people alleged that the sadhus were trying to kidnap a child. People began to interrogate which turned into a scuffle. The sadhus sustained severe head injuries after the mob hit them with sticks and their clothes were also torn off in the scuffle."
According to an eyewitness, people gathered to celebrate Dusshera when they noticed a sadhu trying to abduct a child. The police further said that they did not find anything suspicious from the sadhus but the police are probing the case for further details.
