Hamirpur: A girl, who was shot by a youth after he was allegedly spurned in love by her, died while she was being taken to a hospital for advanced treatment at Kotwali Rath in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
According to police the 19-year-old girl, who hailed from Basela village of Kotwali Rath, was sleeping at home in the presence of her mother and grandmother when the youth along with his companions dragged the girl out of her home. Hearing her scream, neighbours tried to resist those youths and one of them fired at her leaving the girl seriously injured.
Local said the bullet pierced through her back portion and exited through the stomach. The blood-soaked girl was brought to the CHC, where doctors referred her to Jhansi after preliminary treatment. The girl, who was profusely bleeding, died while being taken from Jhansi to Gwalior. Locals said the family members of the girl were not ready for her marriage with a local youth who goes by the name, Deepak.
Soon after receiving the information of the death of the girl, Superintendent of Police Deeksha Sharma, who was accompanied by Additional Superintendent of Police, rushed to the spot for inspection and met family members of the girl. They gathered relevant details from her family members. Superintendent of Police Deeksha Sharma said the accused has been arrested and the pistol which he used for murdering the girl was recovered by police. During interrogation, the arrested youth claimed that he was in love with the girl for three years.
