Hyderabad: As many as three youths have been arrested by Jeedimetla Police in Hyderabad on Thursday for allegedly threatening a minor girl on social media.
As per police, the girl, studying in 10th standard, was given a smartphone by her parents for online classes and came in contact with the accused through Instagram. The youths, from Begumpet area, used to shoot TikTok videos and do photoshoots to make money.
The victim also gifted them an iPhone and gave around Rs 4 lakh to them in the past two months.
"On September 14, the youths also met the girl outside her house. After getting noticed by her parents, they said that they came to meet her to get study material," Jeedimetla inspector Balaraju said.
The girl later revealed to her parents that the youths were blackmailing her over some pictures and videos.
Police filed a case on the complaint of the girl's father.
The three accused have confessed to the crime during interrogation.
