According to the preliminary information, the world-famous tiger habitat has been engulfed with a blaze which is increasing constantly enveloping the dense forest area of the park.

The incident site falls between Katholi and Padra villages which is about 50 km from Sawai Madhopur district headquarters.

Forest official stated that the fire site is a plantation area of the Katholi village which lies in the middle of the forest. The area does not have a population within 10 kilometres range as it witnesses continuous movement of wild animals, including tigers.

So far the damage could not be assessed yet as there is no proper network of roads.

Meanwhile, the government has spent around Rs 60 crore to protect wildlife and keep the area under proper surveillance with the help of digital security tracking system.

After the recent hunting incidents in the national park, this will be the second most highlighted issue and forest officials believe that the cause of the fire will be revealed once the fire is taken under control and the surveillance data is retrieved.
