Sindhu felicitated with cash reward of Rs 10 lakh by Kerala Olympic Association

PV Sindhu was felicitated by the Kerala Olympic Association State President V Sunil Kumar and handed over a check of Rs 10 lakh. She was crowned world champion at the recently-concluded World Badminton Championship in Switzerland.

Thiruvananthapuram: PV Sindhu who was crowned world champion at the recently-concluded World Badminton Championship in Switzerland, was felicitated by the Kerala State Government on Wednesday.

She said that she is trying hard to win a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. "I am currently focusing on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. My dream is to win a gold medal. Denmark and Paris leagues are the starting point for this", she said.

Athletes need hard work and parental support. Sindhu says she is lucky in this regard and can only say good things about Kerala. "The support given by Kerala brings me back here and I am grateful for this love," she said.

Sindhu's put a smile on her face as a reply to the remark that she was looking good in a Kerala saree. Sindhu met the media after visiting the Kerala Olympic Association’s headquarters Olympic Bhavan. Kerala Olympic Association State President V Sunil Kumar handed over a check of Rs 10 lakh to Sindhu.

The association decided to honour her because she is the first Indian to become a world champion.

At the event, the online sports channel of Kerala Olympic Association was also inaugurated. This is the first time in the country that a dedicated online sports channel is being launched in a regional language.

Early in the morning, Sindhu visited Padmanabha swami temple and Attukal temple.
