Sanitation worker to head Block Panchayath as president in Kerala

Communist Party of India (Marxist) has picked sanitation worker Anandavalli to head Thalavur Block as president. She has been working as a temporary sanitation worker in the same Block Panchayath for the past ten years.

Kollam: Anandavalli, who worked as a sanitation worker in Thalavur Block Panchayath in Kollam, is all set to govern the same Block Panchayath from here on. It is a proud moment for Pathanapuram, as a sanitation worker Anandavalli who has been leading a very meagre living, is to head the Block from now on.

Anandavalli’s family at Sreenilayam in Thalavur Njarakkttu is overwhelmed by joy in the unexpected recognition that she has got. She has been working as a temporary sanitation worker in the same Block Panchayath for the past ten years.

The CPIM has decided to bestow the responsibility of a Block Panchayath President to Anandavalli, who has won in the local body elections from Thalavur Division, on the Left ticket.

Anandavalli’s husband Mohanan, a painting labourer, is a CPIM local committee member. Anandavalli had contested on a Scheduled Caste- General seat and won with a majority of 654 votes from Thalavur division in the recent local body polls.
