Two days ahead of India's G20 working group meeting in Srinagar, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched a huge crackdown and conducted raids at multiple locations in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The NIA has been stepping up its raids to nab operatives involved in terror funding.

Jammu and Kashmir : Ahead of G20 meeting in Srinagar, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) began raids on the suspected associates and overground workers (OGWs) of terror outfits at multiple locations in several districts across Jammu and Kashmir. These raids are going on at over 16 locations in Srinagar, Pulwama, Kupwara, Awantipora and Anantnag in Kashmir division and at several places in Jammu division.

The NIA officials carried out raids in the Goosu, Nehma and Dafarpura areas of South Kashmir. As per sources, these raids were carried out on persons associated with Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI). During the raids, the documents of suspects were checked along with mobile phones and other items.

The raids started in the Pulwama district this morning and there were a huge number of police and CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) present on the occasion. It is mentioned earlier that a few days ago, the investigation agency conducted raids in different areas of the districts in connection with the financial support of terrorists. During this, three persons were taken into custody by the investigating agency for further investigation.

The NIA stepped up its raids ahead of India holding the G20 tourism working group meeting in Srinagar from May 22 to 24. In the last three weeks, the NIA raided over 60 locations in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir to rein in those associated with terror agencies.

Sources said that these raids are part of the ongoing probe into the activities of the terror outfits that are operating through their OGWs (over-ground workers) and cadres in the Valley. These terror outfits include the United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir (ULFJ&K) and Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF).
