Pulwama (Kashmir): An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, police said.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Parigam village of Pulwama following information about presence of militants there, a police official said.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire on the security forces who retaliated.
Earlier today, at least four suspected militants were killed on Thursday during a gunfight with security forces at Nagrota along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
According to the police, the gunfight started at around 5 am near the Ban toll plaza area along the Srinagar - Jammu national highway.
Jammu and Kashmir police have recovered weapons from the site of encounter in Nagrota, in which four terrorists have been killed and on constable was also injured.
