COVID-19: Rajiv Gandhi Hospital ramps-up preparation for vaccine storage

Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital in Delhi has ramped up the preparation to store COVID-19 vaccines. The Delhi government-run hospital has been identified as the city's first storage facility for COVID-19 vaccine.

New Delhi: As the country is expected to have COVID-19 vaccine within a month, Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital in Delhi has ramped up the preparation for its storage.

The Delhi government-run hospital has been identified as the city's first storage facility for COVID-19 vaccine.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Dr Chhavi Gupta, Deputy Medical Superintendent, said that a team of the Union government had surveyed different places and zeroed in this hospital to store vaccines.

She said that the ground floor of the hospital has a lot of space where vaccines will be stored.

"Some electrical works are going on at the ground floor and it is expected to be ready within a month. Several modifications have also been carried at the floor so that deep freezers can be accommodated," she said.

Dr Gupta further said that an alarm system will also be placed to maintain the required temperature for the vaccine.

"We also have enough number of healthcare workers at the hospital who can vaccinate the entire population in Delhi within a month," She claimed.
