New Delhi: The Supreme Court bench comprising of Justice R Bhanumathi and Justice AS Bopanna rejected the Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram's review petition against the arrest by Enforcement Directorate.
Last year on 5th September, 2019, the top court had ordered that the ED is free to interrogate and arrest Chidambaram in the INX media case without granting him arrest.
P Chidambaram is accused of misusing his Finance Minister's position in approving overseas funds of Rs 305 crores (more than the allowed amount) by the INX media group.
The CBI had registered an FIR against him in 2017 for influencing Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) in clearing the amount.
ED has been doing the investigation for money laundering of around Rs 10 lakh bribe which was used to get the approval.
