Hyderabad: Srinivas Gowda, a young man from Karnataka, has become overnight hero completing 142.50 meters race in 13.62 seconds in Kambala jockey in Mangalore on Friday. Following his victory in the buffalo race, the entire nation claimed that the young man has broken Usain Bolt's record of 9.58 seconds in 100m race that he achieved in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

There have been multiple theories doing round on social media on Gowada's feat. As he has completed 142.50 meters in 13.62 seconds in the traditional buffalo race, it has been translated into 9.55 seconds for 100m race.

In the meantime, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju's tweet added fuel to this buzz. Rijiju urged Sports Authority of India (SAI) coaches to arrange a trial for Gowda.

"I'll call Karnataka's Srinivasa Gowda for trials by top SAI Coaches. There's lack of knowledge in masses about the standards of Olympics especially in athletics where ultimate human strength & endurance are surpassed. I'll ensure that no talents in India is left out untested," Rijiju tweeted.

Later he confirmed that SAI officials have contacted Gowda and arranged train ticket for him.

"Officials from SAI have contacted him. His rail ticket is done and he will reach SAI centre on monday. I will ensure top national coaches to conduct his trials properly. We will do everything to identity sporting talents!" Rijiju said on twitter.

As Gowda has become an overnight star, ETV Bharat has had a special conversation with him in which he talked about his practice and training regime.

"We have been participating in Kambala jockey since 2012. After that, our group was invited to compete in car and bike races. In 2013, Kambala sports was organised at Lavakusha running track in Mangaluru. I got first place at that race," he said.

"I am so happy about it. Now, people are comparing me to Usain Bolt. He is a world champion, I am only running in a slushy paddy field. The credit of my success should also go to my two buffaloes. They ran very well. I chased them or drove them. But I can't able to break the record of him running on track and Bolt will not be able to run on the slushy track. He won the millions of hearts in the world. I won the thousands of Heart in Kambala," Gowda signed off.
