Got the visa application processed today for Denmark Open: Saina Nehwal

New Delhi: Star Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal on Tuesday said her application for Danish visa was being processed and she is expecting to receive the same on time for her participation in next week's BWF Denmark Open World Tour Super 750 tournament.

The 2012 London Olympic bronze-medallist had tweeted on Monday that she was facing visa issues for her participation in the BWF Super 750 tournament. She had even sought the help of the External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in this regard.

The Denmark Open will be played at Odense from October 15 to 20.

The 29-year-old Saina, a 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, had finished runner-up in the tournament last year, losing to Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu-Ying in the final.
After Anand Khare, who handles travel documentation of the Indian shuttlers, had blamed Visa Facilitation Services Global (VFS), they issued a statement saying, "VFS Global adheres to visa procedures as laid down by its respective client governments and has no influence on such decisions. For Denmark visa applications, it is mandatory for all applicants to appear in person when submitting the visa application. VFS Global is in touch with the Embassy of Denmark and Saina Nehwal's representative to explore a solution.""Today, as per the instructions of the Embassy, VFS Global opened the Hyderabad Visa Application Centre to ensure Nehwal was able to visit in person to submit her biometrics," the statement added.
