Mumbai: Anurag Kashyap's popular web series 'Sacred Games' is back with its second season. There will be two new characters to be played by Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey.
Saif Ali Khan who plays Sartaj Singh in the web series will be seen embarking on a journey of self-discovery, struggling to solve the mystery of Gaitonde's third father, and attempting to salvage his failed marriage, all while trying to save Mumbai from a massacre.
Nawazuddin will be reprising his role of Ganesh Gaitonde who aims to re-establish his power and status as the king. To achieve his motive, he sets up a new cartel far away from his land.

Kalki and Ranvir will be the new ones joining the league. While the former plays Batya Ableman, the latter will be seen as Shahid Khan. Both will be adding numerous twists to the tale.
Pankaj Tripathi will be once again seen in his power-pact role of Guruji.
Talking about the second season, Vikramaditya Motwane said, "We're extremely excited to finally be able to share with the fans of 'Sacred Games' what they've all been waiting for with bated breath - the date of its release on Netflix.
"This season is bigger, more compelling, and totally unexpected. Be prepared to discover a different side to each character as we take the audience on a tremendous journey, and address questions left unanswered last season."
Based on Vikram Chandra's 2006 novel by the same name, 'Sacred Games' received immense critical acclaim for the gripping plot and powerful performances.
The plot, in the first season, was revolved around the lives of Mumbai city cop Sartaj Singh, and crime lord Ganesh Gaitonde. The show progressed as the lives of the two characters collided.
The series is directed by Anurag Kashyap and Neeraj Ghaywan. The second season will stream on August 15 on Netflix.
