Mumbai: Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on Saturday paid tribute to the late music maestro R D Burman on his birth anniversary.

Rahul Dev Burman was an exceptional composer who dots the era of early 70s and 80s with his great melodies.

The Lag Jaa Gale singer, in her tweets, noted about the love Burman had for his father - Sachin Dev Burman, who is also yet another legendary music director.

Talking about their bond, the 90-year-old singer explained that Burman used to share his happiness and sorrow with her.

She wrote: "Namaskar. Apne pyare sangeet se aur acche swabhaav se sab ka dil jitnewale RD Burman, yaane Pancham, ki aaj jayanti hai. Pancham apne pitaji se bahut pyar karta tha. Pancham ka aur mera rishta bahut anokha tha, woh jab bhi khush hota ya dukhi hota, toh apni mann ki baatein mujhe bataaya karta. (Today is the birth anniversary of RD Burman, aka Pancham, who won everyone's hearts with his lovely music and good behaviour. Pancham used to love his father a lot. Pancham and I shared a unique bond, whenever he was happy or upset, he would open up to me.)"
