New Delhi: Election Commission of India will hold a press conference at 5 PM on Sunday to announce the Lok Sabha poll dates.
The term of the present Lok Sabha ends on June 3. The model code of conduct will come into effect as soon as the EC declares the date.
The elections will be held for 543 seats of the Lok Sabha on approximately 10 lakh polling booths across the country.
The entire process of election in 2014 was completed in 72 days. The Lok Sabha polling was held on nine days between April 7 and May 12. The votes were counted on May 16.
The BJP led National Democratic Alliance won 336 Lok Sabha seats with a clear majority. PM Modi is the only non-Congress PM after Atal Bihari Vajpayee to complete his full tenure.
