New Delhi: After the broad daylight murder of gangster Jitendra Gogi at Rohini Court in Delhi, the gang war between two rival groups has now shifted to social media. Following the developments, the Delhi Police have beefed up security in the national capital and have declared a high alert in around six states.

The slain gangster's accomplices have declared an open war against rival group leader Sunil alias Tillu and looking for an opportunity to avenge Gogi's killing. Threat messages targeting Tillu have been put out on social media allegedly by two of Gogi's close aides, Lawrence Bishnoi and Kala Jatheri.

"We are sitting silent, it does not mean that we are dead, there will be a blast soon. A new war has just begun. Those who aren't with us should take care and that none are safe in this war now. From this day, there will be bloodshed and the rules of the war have changed," the threat message read.

According to the police, there may be attacks not only inside jails but also outside, in the coming days. Hence, Rohini Court, all Delhi jails, including Tihar Jail, Mandoli Jail and Rohini Jail, have been put on high alert and security has been beefed up, jail officials said.

What exactly is the issue?

Notorious criminal gangster Jitender Mann 'Gogi' and two other criminals were killed in a shootout at Room number 207 of Rohini court in northwest Delhi on Friday. Gogi, who was involved in several criminal cases and jailed in Tihar, was being produced in court, when his rival group entered the premises disguised as lawyers, and opened fire at him. As a retaliation, the counterintelligence team of Delhi police opened fire on the assailants, in which two of them were killed. Gogi received five to six bullet injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead by doctors.

Notably, Gogi along with three other accomplices was arrested in 2020 by the special cell of the Delhi police. At the time of his arrest, a reward of Rs8 lakh was announced on him by the Delhi Police.

Who is Sunil alias Tillu?

According to the police, Gogi and Sunil Mann alias, Tillu were college friends but their friendship turned into rivalry in 2012, as they supported different candidates in college elections. The dispute took a violent turn in 2012, when Gogi and his associates allegedly shot at Vikas, a close confidant of Tillu.

In 2015, Tillu was arrested by the Sonipat Police and put behind bars. Gogi, who had been arrested earlier, managed to flee from police custody in 2016 when he was being produced before a court in Haryana. Gogi later killed some of the associates of Tillu and was arrested last year from Gurgaon.
