New Delhi: After the detention of over 50 hours, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra along with Rahul Gandhi and party members have headed to meet the bereaved family of farmers who lost their lives in Lakhimpur Kheri on Wednesday. Businessman Robert Vadra had claimed that he was not allowed to reach Lucknow to meet his his wife Priyanka Gandhi who has been detained under Section 151 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

While speaking to ETV Bharat, Robert Vadra said, "To express her condolences to the bereaved families, Priyanka reached Lucknow on Sunday. She had informed me that it is raining there and it will take three hours to reach Lakhimpur Kheri. But then, I saw videos of police pushing and manhandling her. I believe that it is the only reason why it has become such a huge issue. If they had allowed her, then it would have been different,"

Robert Vadra speaks to ETV Bharat about Priyanka Gandhi's arrest, says his family will support the farmers in their rightful struggle.

"Priyanka was detained at a place which was unhygienic, drones were set up outside her room, internet services were suspended. At that point, I realized that I should go there to meet her. Now, I have got information that Priyanka would be free, Rahul has also reached there. But Priyanka would come back only after accomplishing her mission," he added.

When asked how he was trying to contact Priyanka, he replied, "I was really worried. There were a lot of people who were concerned that if the administration can have such kind of behaviour against a politician, imagine the plight of common people. No action has been taken against Mishra and his son. This shows that there is no law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh and the Government is just imposing dictatorship."

He expressed confidence in his wife and her family, saying, "My family would surely stand with the farmers and other sections whose rights have been suppressed. No matter how much they will try to stop us, we will continue our fight."
